Penang!

Hey Folks,

Well shave my balls and pour me a milkshake - I have never really heard snoring like it (sorry dad - you've been beaten!) Wish my ear plugs weren't locked away in my bag. We're on the sleeper train, by the way, which arrived on time - a total miracle in Thailand terms. They'll probably throw a public holiday in rememberance.

And now for something completely different... With more bites than a dyslexic cycling shop, my feet look pretty minging but hey - this is my bed for the night:

We arrive at the border, get off, sign some pish, get our passports stamped, get chatted to by some fat guy who REEKED, then spent the next 2 hours choochoooing through Malaysia. We arrive in Butterworth, and meet a nice english lad and his canadian burd on the ferry over to Penang.

So this is where we are....

The nice couple show us a decent place to stay - we drop our bags and go for a wander. Thunder. Lightning. Holy shit - never seen anything like it. People almost losing their balance from the clatter of thunder and getting hurt by the rainfall while watching lightning lick the top of buildings less than 50 yards away. We buy an umbrella. And a book.

Penang feels pretty dodgy, but I'm sure it's alright. Still, like midgets at the urinal, we're going to have to stay on our toes.

Just got word that we are staying in the Ritz in Singapore when we get there. For the first night, one of laura's cousin's mates has kindly put us up for the night, and booked us into the Ritz on the 2nd night for free!! How Eff-Aye-Zed-Aye-En is that!?!

Really only put this post up to say hi to a few folk.

Colin - some good - chat nice one.

Andy the hun - Malaysia is behind all the boys - mon the Gers!!

Faisal - Happy Eid mate. Everyone over here is Muslim/Islam/Chinese - quite bizarre mixture. Most places here are closed for Eid - decent!! Hope you got to have a few days off uni!

Maw - cheers for the mail, pity the SS dinner didn't work out to be too hot. Who does the fund actually help? Keep an eye on the post for me!

Kim - just passed a place in the Chinatown district of Georgetown (where we're staying) called Moo Bang Kim!! Hahaha fantastic! Didn't know you were into cows??

Off the catch the overnight train to Kuala Lumpur. Catch you all in a bit.

Blind!!

Haaaaawwwww!!

Probably the hottest its been so far. Weather is completely stunning. Phi Phi is totally beautiful. Therefore we go out and get totally blind! Meet some irish burd called Bernadine, who shows me how to effectively spill a quarter of your drink down you without noticing it. Watch a fireshow featuring some sweaty Thai folk. Laura gets chatted up by some dodgy swedish bloke who sells houses. Mick gets chatted up by some dodgy swedish bloke full stop.

Wake up with a sandpit in my mouth. But fear not, because this is the sight I have been waking up to for the last 3 days....

When we were in Phuket a few days ago, we went on a visit to James Bond Island - the one from the man with the golden gun - here are a few pics.

1stly - From left to right: Random See Kayak bloke, Weewe (Lee's burd) Lee and V.I.P.

2ndly, the bit of rock that is really, really famous:

Latre that night, we went out and got blotto. From left to right: Weewe, Lee, Graham, Graham's burd (can't remember her name) and Tim.

Graham was so blind, he managed to fall off his chair while singing in another club. Then drove home. Still don't know if he's ok.

So, back to the present day - 22nd nov. World cup final. Supporting Oz since come english prick started mouthing off last night. Without Wilkinson, England would be nowhere. End up getting blind again watching yet again more fire eaters/dancers and collapsing in a heap...again.

Our 2nd last day on Phi Phi and its raining a wee bit - pretty uneventful, then we leave early the next day (today). A few hours on a ferry, few more on the bus brings us to Surat Thani train station - a hole. We need to wait 6 hours for our train. Cue the Pringles, Oreos and several games of rummy.

So summing up Thailand in one word: Immense. Loved it totally. A big thank you goes to Lee for putting us up and showing us how to drink. Cheers bud.
