The Old Firm

Oh dear. I am a Rangers fan. Celtic actually looked like a Premiership team, Rangers still looked Scottish.

So we hit the beers - meet up with B's mate Boydy from back home and he quickly forgets how to talk properly. There is an institution in Bondi Junction, where we've been staying for the last week or so - Curry Junction. The guy just can't give away any more stuff to us, sending popadoms and nans our way.

We jump into the town the next day, go to Darling Harbour to meet Emma and Dave - a quality bloke from Grimsby who we met in Perth. It's his last day so we go and do something cultural - the National Maratime Museum is free! So we all go in, and get led into this theatre, where some Aussie weirdo who's just taken about 5 e's presents us with a kids show about the earth, pollution etc. We learnt the following....

"REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE!" The last word, when shouted, must be accompanied by the thrust of a clenched fist into the air. We exit as soon as he isn't looking directly at us. So we're out of the 'museum' and we're looking around for something to do when we see this....

The Sydney Skytower - can't remember how high it is, but it's damn high. Sydney is massive, and for $16-odd bucks, we get to the top, get a guide, and get an incredible view....

You also get to go on this sequence of rides which is quite cool, anyone that's coming to Sydney - go to the Skytower, it's pretty good. Dave has to leave halfway through, he's off to Cairns, then back home - will miss ya mate!

Matt also left that day, so sent a few pints his way - he's going all the way back through Russia, Finland etc, immense.

The day after, we move out of the building site to a backpackers place right on Bondi beach. To let you see our quarters for the last week or so, i'll first show you the living room/kitchen....

And now the bedroom....

If you look closely on the left hand side, you can see the infamous crackers and lemon and dill sauce. You are all so privaleged. We thank the lads Phil and Ross for putting us up for the whole time from the bottom of our hearts.

I'm sitting in this Internet place which has 4 PCs. Only 2 of them were working a few days ago, but struck a deal with the guy that if I fixed them, he'd give me free internet time. Bonus. Even Laura and Emma cashed in!

We get all our washing done coz it's covered in cement dust, and head to see the completely amazing band Turin Brakes. Wow. Completely amazing - if you've never heard of them, smack their name into Kazaa and download Underdog, Future Boy, Long Distance - in fact, download their whole album 'The Optimist LP'. In fact - go out and buy it. In fact go out and buy all of their albums....

Sheer brilliance. I wake up still ringing from the gig. Spend the whole day sunning on the beach, shopping, looking for jobs/houses etc. Meet up with the lads for a few beers, Phil is totally WASTED!! He departs early, and Liz drives us back down to the Beach where we meet Gabriel, a guy from our room, who I was calling 'Dave' all day. I feel like a tit.

So that's it. A big hullo hullo to everyone. More of a goodbye to Vicky and Bro who are off to Goa!

See you all later,

Mick.
