Solway Lass...
Ooooohhhhh Arrrrrrrrrrrrr splice the mainsail and scupper the decks you land lubbers. Yes, quite.
Just back from 3 nights of sailing round the Whitsundays on the beautiful Solway Lass. The Lass is over 100 years old, is 127 foot long, has 10 sails and a bar. Millar owns the record for 1st at the bar on the 500th voyage! We spent 3 full days on the Lass, getting around some of the most amazing sights in the world. A wee hike on the 2nd day leads us to a view of Hill's Inlet...
Did my first certified dive as well which was absolutely amazing. Spotted a turtle and went over and stroked it!!! I shit you not the turtle turned round, waved at me, then swam off. Amazing. The next day we met Elvis. Elvis is a huge fish. Huge as in bloody huge. Was also swimming amongst thousands of fish - all of whom were biting me. Bloody sore sometimes! Probably deserved it, as I had half a loaf of bread in my hand.
We arrived at Whitehaven beach. Quite simply the closet thing to paradise I've been. Amazing sand, crystal blue water...
And a wee message to all the fizin fans out there....
I talked about how it was paradise. If you've got a decent connection, plug in your earphones, and watch this video. Right click here, click save target as and save it on your PC somewhere. It's a good 18M, so it may take a wee while.
Paradise. Then Millar spoils it!
What a quality 3 days and nights - met some quality people and learnt some quality new drinking games. I love my pink piggy is one I'll keep for when I get back home!
A hint of sadness about saying goodbye to the Lass, what a brilliant time!
Off down to Fraser island 2nite,
Speak to you all again soon,
Mick
